Top brass of the BJP, which considers the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as its ideological mentor, has often talked about a 'Congress-free India'.
Replying to a question about portraying Hindu religion in two different narratives--one as Hinduism and the other as Hindutva--Bhagwat said RSS considers Hindutva as the one and only narrative.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat today called for using strength and tact to counter "forces seeking to divide the people" of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and said trouble-makers only understood the language of power.
At its crucial triennial meeting of office bearers, the ruling BJP's ideological mentor passed a resolution on the need to protect and promote "Bhartiya" languages.
Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi will now continue in the post till 2021.
Addressing the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh volunteers in Varanasi, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat asked Sangh workers to promote harmony in the society.
M Raju Nayiar, a resident of Muzaffarpur town, has filed the case in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate. The court has fixed February 15 to hear the case.
The clarification comes after Bhagwat faced a volley of attacks from political parties for the comment.
Addressing the workers at Zila school ground in Muzaffarpur on Sunday, RSS chief had said it may take Indian Army six-seven months to get battle-ready, but if need be RSS can prepare an army within three days
On Independence Day last year, Bhagwat had kicked up a row by hoisting the national flag at the government-aided Karnakiamman Higher Secondary School, flouting an order by the Palakkad collector.
"Unlike Nehru, Shastri did not harbour any ideological hostility towards the Jana Sangh and the RSS. He used to often invite Shri Guruji for consultation on national issues," Advani said.
The Sangh activists believe the event would help spread its message in the entire Northeast and unify various castes and communities residing in the region and is also significant in view of elections to three Northeast states next month.
Speaking in the inaugural function of the three-day 'Shaiv Mahotsav' here, Bhagwat said, "The footprints of our culture are found all over the world."
Bhagwat's comments came at a time when violence on caste lines marred a celebration of Dalit groups in Maharashtra. The protests in Pune later spilled over to other parts of the state.
RSS spokesman Manmohan Vaidya said that the Sangh convenes two meetings annually where the conditions prevalent in the country is discussed.
