Alagiri visited Karunanidhi's memorial at Chennai's Marina beach on Monday. Talking to reporters later, Alagiri asserted that "true relatives" and supporters of his father are with his side.
Congress leader Sonia Gandhi condoled the death of Karunanidhi and wrote letter to his son MK Stalin describing the Kalaignar as "father figure" who always showed great kindness an consideration to her.
The Centre failed to set up the CMB within six weeks of the apex court's February 16 order. The deadline ended on March 29.
Stalin had written to Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami's government urging him not to allow Vishwa Hindu Parishad's rath yatra to enter the state borders as it could disrupt the communal harmony.
