In an exclusive interview with India TV, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched a strong attack on Congress while addressing the concerns of farmers. He asserted that Congress has always been "anti-farmer."
Government has increased the MSP of Rabi Crops to ensure remunerative prices to the growers for their produce. The absolute highest increase in MSP has been announced for Rapeseed & Mustard at Rs 300 per quintal followed by Lentil (Masur) at Rs 275 per quintal.
Farmer leaders have announced that a mega rally will be held in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal district on September 1, 2024. This rally is being organized jointly by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha.

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha has appealed to farmers and workers to make the 'Kisan Mazdoor Mahapanchayat' massive and peaceful. It also urged all the mass and class organisations and unions of workers, students, youth and women to join the mahapanchayat.
On the fifth day of their 'Delhi Chalo' march -- called by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha -- the farmers stayed put at the two border points of Punjab and Haryana as they press the Centre to accept their demands, including a legal guarantee of a MSP.

Farmers protest: The Congress' unit for farmers accused the BJP-led central government of not cooperating with farmers and reneging on its promises made to them following which, the year-long stir at Delhi borders was suspended.
Wheat MSP has been raised by 5.45 per cent to Rs 2,125 per quintal from Rs 2,015 per quintal to encourage more area under the crop amid tight government stock position owing to low procurement, fall in production and higher exports.
