When she was reminded that efforts of both former PM Vajpayee and present prime minister Modi failed to yield results, Mehbooba Mufti said that India needs to keep trying not once or twice but many times.
“Amused at media speculations about a possible PDP-INC alliance to form the govt in J&K. Conjecture also includes an impending meeting between Sonia ji & I. This is utter fabrication & yet another unfortunate example of fake news,” tweeted Mufti.

Addressing the reporters, after submitting her resignation to Governor NN Vohra, Mufti said that she was not shocked by the BJP's exit from its alliance in the state.
"Muscular policy can not work in Jammu and Kashmir. This is not enemy's territory," Mehbooba Mufti said after tendering her resignation.
The state opposition leader's remarks came after his meeting with Governor NN Vohra in the wake of BJP pulling out of its coalition government with the PDP in the state.
"It has become untenable for the BJP to continue in the alliance government in the state," BJP's Ram Madhav said while announcing his party's decision to walk out of the alliance with PDP in J&K.
Madhav, who played a major role in stitching the alliance three years ago, said the decision was taken in view of larger interest of national integrity.
Rajnath Singh said that the Centre is ready to hold talks with all "right-minded" people in Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan, but the neighboring country should stop terror activities emanating from its soil.
