The bypolls for six Assembly seats in West Bengal will be conducted on November 13, with results to be declared on November 23. The constituencies involved in the bypolls include Sitai (SC), Madarihat (ST), Naihati, Haroa, Medinipur, and Taldangra.
The flood-like situation was apprehended in at least seven districts of West Bengal after the release of water from dams in neighbouring Jharkhand. Earlier, Mamata had said "I have called the Jharkhand CM three times and urged him to regulate the release of water."
All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Madan Mitra on December 19 mocked former TMC leader Suvendu Adhikari, who joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of Home Minister Amit Shah by saying TMC workers will celebrate gala evening today as 'we're free from the virus now'.
