Gayoom was sentenced to one year and seven months in prison for obstruction of justice when he refused to hand over his mobile phone during a police investigation, news report said.
Gayoom was sentenced to 19 months imprisonment in June after failing to hand over his mobile phone to investigators. He had been arrested in February on charges of plotting to overthrow the government.
