Maoist killed in Jharkhand: A team of Jharkhand Police and CRPF personnel launched an operation after receiving a tip-off about the presence of over 18 red rebels led by CPI (Maoist) self-styled 'zonal commander' Ravindra Ganju, who carries a bounty of Rs 15 lakh on his head.
The C-60 commandos, an elite wing of the police, had recovered bodies of 26 Naxals during a search after the encounter and Teltumbde, one of the wanted accused in the Elgar Parishad-Maoist links case, was suspected to be among the dead.
"Four bodies of Maoists in uniform, one Insas rifle and two 303 rifle were recovered," said a CRPF official.
Police have stepped up the combing operations in the area following a tip-off that the ultras were gathering there as part of their plan to observe the Maoists Martyrs Week from July 28.
