Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged people to make book reading a habit and reiterated that bouquets should be replaced by books as gifts. In his monthly radio programme Mann ki Baat, he urged people to gift each other a book instead of a bouquet.
Talking about the democratic spirit, Modi, in his first 'Mann Ki Baat' radio programme after being elected for a second term, also said that the Emergency was not only opposed by the political parties and its leaders but also by the common man.
Prime Minister sought ideas from the people about water conservation and also appealed to everyone, including eminent people, to create awareness on water conservation.
This was PM Narendra Modi's first Mann Ki Baat after taking over as PM for the second time. Talking about the democratic spirit, Modi said that the Emergency was not only opposed by the political parties and its leaders but also by the common man.
Mann Ki Baat was temporarily suspended by PM Narendra Modi himself just days before the announcement of Lok Sabha election 2019. In his first term as the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi addressed the country 53 times through his radio programme Mann Ki Baat.
"Mann Ki Baat is back again as PM Narendra Modi assumes office for the second term. Your stories, ideas & suggestions can be a part of this month's episode, scheduled on June 30, 2019," MyGovIndia said in a tweet.
In this monthly address through the radio broadcast, the 53rd since Modi came to power in 2014, the prime minister said he was doing so keeping in mind healthy democratic traditions.
In the last edition of Mann Ki Baat, PM Modi had hailed the contribution of the Election Commission of India for continuously working towards strengthening the democracy.
The prime minister further said, “In our country, no stone is left unturned to ensure that every citizen of India, who is a registered voter, gets an opportunity to vote."
