Justice Singh will serve as a judge at the Supreme Court until February 28, 2028, where the mandatory retirement age is 65. The Collegium consisted of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justices Sanjiv Khanna, BR Gavai, Surya Kant, and Hrishikesh Roy.
Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal announced the appointment of Justices N Kotiswar Singh and R Mahadevan as two new judges of the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

Rahul Gandhi's visit to Manipur on July 8 comes amid a fresh spate of violence reported in the state. Recently, violence erupted in Koutruk village, situated in the Imphal West district, where a clash between the two rival ethnic groups claimed two lives.
Manipur is currently reeling with floods as the incessant rainfalls have led to a rise in river streams. Imphal, Senapati, and Kongba have breached their embankments. Meanwhile, 25 personnel of the National Disaster Response Force have reached Imphal from Kohima.
The incident occurred at around midnight, after which the security was tightened in the area, the police said.
Due to heavy rains in Manipur, the state government has declared a holiday in government offices and schools. According to the order, the government offices are closed till today while the schools will remain closed till tomorrow.
The gunfight continued for about an hour, however, no casualties were reported. This latest incident strife comes weeks after violence in Jiribam which displaced over 200 people to relief camps and hundreds of others took refuge in the nearby Cachar district of Assam.
Amit Shah chaired a high-level meeting on the Manipur situation on Monday. Top officials including the Army Chief were present at the meet.
According to the officials, the fire broke out in a deserted building close to the erstwhile headquarters of the Kuki Inpi, the apex body of the Kuki tribe, who deserted the building after the ethnic violence broke out in the northeastern state in May last year.
Manipur violence: The unrest has also affected neighboring Assam, where approximately 600 people from various ethnic backgrounds have sought refuge in Lakhipur, Cachar district, fleeing the violence in Manipur.
Suspected militants ambushed the advance security convoy of Manipur CM N Biren Singh in Kangpokpi district on Monday. The convoy, en route to violence-hit Jiribam, faced multiple gunshots. Security forces retaliated, leading to an ongoing shootout near Kotlen village on National Highway 53.
The situation in Manipur's Jiribam was already tense after killing of a man by suspected militants following which a curfew was imposed in the district as locals protested.
The houses of the people staying in the relief camp at Jiri Sports Complex were burnt in the outlying villages of Lamtai khunou, Dibong Khunou, Nunkhal and Begra in the Jiribam district by suspected militants.
At least 219 people have been killed in the ethnic strife that erupted in Manipur on May 3 last year after a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ was organised in the hill districts to protest against the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe status.
In the wake of the devastating floods caused by Cyclone Remal, Assam Rifles organised medical camps for the displaced flood victims in Manipur’s Imphal on June 2. They were provided with necessary medicines to cope with the aftermath of the cyclone.
States which were hit by cyclone Remal are assessing the damage. The disaster also adversely affected preparations for the upcoming seventh and final phase of polling scheduled on June 1 in West Bengal.
