The Indians defeated Australia’s Luke Saville and John-Patrick Smith 6-7 (10-12), 6-3, 10-6 to claim their second ATP title together.
The tournament, organised by the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association, will see four Indians, Yuki Bhambri, Ramkumar Ramanathan, Prajnesh Gunneswaran and Arjun Kadhe, starting in the singles main draw.
As the draws were revealed on Saturday, the in-form Indian pair, who recently clinched an ATP title in Adelaide, will kickstart its campaign against the experienced American pair of Jamie Cerretani and Nicolas Monroe.
Prajnesh Gunneswaran's campaign at the Maharashtra Open ended in the pre-quarterfinals with a straight-set loss to Korea's Kwan Soon-woo.
Prajnesh Gunneswaran is the only Indian left in the men's singles draw after Sasi Mukund was knocked out in the Tata Open Maharashtra.
Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan defeated the British pair of Luke Bambridge and Jonny O'Maara 6-3 6-4 to win the Tata Open Maharashtra men's doubles title.
In a sensational turnaround, the unseeded Frenchman toppled the world number six from Croatia 1-6 6-3 6-2 in a gripping semifinal.
Bopanna and left-handed Jeevan were up against Gilles Simon and two-time Grand Slam champion Pierre-Hugues Herbert where they lost 3-6, 5-7 in one hour and 10 minutes.
Top seed Cilic from Croatia outplayed eighth seed Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert 6-3 6-2 in 64 minutes while Anderson survived a mighty scare from a dogged Mikhail Kukushkin before edging him 6-7(3) 6-4 6-2.
In complete contrast to Bhambri, Ramkumar played with a lot of passion against the 2014 US Open champion and a Wimbledon finalist in 2017 before bowing out with a 4-6, 3-6 defeat in his second round.
While Cilic will be the outright favourite in the next match, Ramkumar had a confidence-boosting win over world number eight Dominic Thiem at Antalya Open last season.
The injuries threatened to end the careers of two greats towards the end of 2016, a year in which neither the Swiss great nor the Spanish giant won a Grand Slam but they came out stronger in 2017, splitting all four Majors between them.
Nagal beat Spain's Menendez-Maceiras in a nip-and-tuck second encounter which finished 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 in the Indian's favour.
Bhambri, ranked 116 in the world, had reached the second round when the ATP 250 event was played in Chennai in January 2017.
Ramanathan (142) comes to the main draw at the back of winning three titles in ITF Futures event.
Bopanna and Nedunchezhiyan had formed a lethal combination to edge past Sharan and Raja earlier this year to win the Chennai Open title.
In the past, tennis legends like Boris Becker, Stanislas Wawrinka, Carlos Moya, Marin Cilic and Rafael Nadal have competed in the tournament which has been renamed as Maharashtra Open.
