Bombay High Court, on Monday, directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe corruption allegations against Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. The High Court asked the CBI to conduct a preliminary inquiry within 15 days into corruption allegations made by former Mumbai top cop Param Bir Singh against the Maharashtra Home Minister.
Param Bir Singh had earlier this month moved the HC demanding an 'immediate and unbiased' probe against Deshmukh, who he claimed asked police officer Sachin Waze to collect Rs 100 crore from bars and restaurants.
Bombay High Court has asked the CBI director to conduct a preliminary inquiry within 15 days and to register an FIR if any cognizable offence is found.
