Of the new cases, the Mumbai administrative circle accounted for 443, the Pune circle 371, Nashik 193, Nagpur 98, Akola 32, Aurangabad 29, Latur 13 and the Kolhapur circle 10, among others.
Mumbai reported 399 fresh cases. With this, its overall tally rose to 11,17,873, while the death toll is 19,624.
Mumbai on Saturday reported 499 new coronavirus infections but no pandemic-related death, the civic body said. A day before, the metropolis had recorded 530 cases and two deaths.
The recovery count increased by 4,207 in the last 24 hours to touch 78,21,140, leaving the state with an active caseload of 20,820, a health official informed.
Since the beginning of July, Mumbai has been witnessing less than 1,000 COVID-19 cases, indicating the recent surge in infections, which started around mid-May, has ebbed.
Mumbai recorded 978 new coronavirus infections and two pandemic-related deaths, which raised the city's caseload to 11,13,470 and death toll to 19,612.
In the last 24 hours, the state recorded 4,432 recoveries. The tally of active cases climbed to 24,490, data showed.
Mumbai reported 1,062 COVID-19 cases and five fatalities, taking the tally to 11,08,433 and the toll to 19,604, a civic official said.
All the deaths that were reported during the day were from Mumbai.
As per the report of the Mumbai-based Kasturba Hospital Central Laboratory, which has been evaluated by the National Institute of Virology in Pune, the 23 cases comprise 17 infections caused by BA.5 and six by BA.4.
The caseload in the city rose to 11,03,760, and death toll reached 19,591. On Thursday, the financial capital of the county had reported 2,479 cases and one fatality.
Mumbai had also recorded a jump of 50% in fresh infections, as the metropolitan on Thursday recorded 2,479 new cases. On Wednesday, the financial capital had recorded 1,648 cases.
The state has been reporting over 4,000 cases over the past three days. On Friday, Maharashtra reported 4,165 new cases and three deaths.
The state recorded 4,255 cases on Thursday. On Wednesday, the state had recorded 4,024 cases and four fatalities.
This is the second consecutive day of Maharashtra reported over 4,000 cases. On Wednesday, the state had logged 4,024 infections.
The health department stated that a single case of the Omicron B.A.5 variant was reported.
The state government had once again taken up measures like making masks mandatory, to curb the spread of the deadly virus.
The tally of active cases rose 12 per cent and crossed the 5,000 mark in the state. The caseload rose to 78,90,346, and death toll reached 1,47,864.
The state's overall Covid-19 tally rose to 78,80,074, while the death toll increased to 1,47,851, the department said in a bulletin.
