In the results announced in the evening for the high-stakes polls held earlier in the day, where 12 candidates were in the fray for 11 seats, the BJP won five seats, while Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) bagged two seats each.
The dinner meeting on the eve of the polls is significant as 12 candidates are in the fray for biennial elections to 11 MLC seats. Also, the election is seen as the semi-final months ahead of the Assembly election in the state.
