Recently, Madhavan withdrew from Navdeep Singh's historical drama starring Saif Ali Khan and Rohit Shetty's Simmba.
Vikram Vedha is a neo-noir action crime thriller film originally written and directed by Pushkar and Gayatri.
"Breathe" is Madhavan's debut web series, that premiered on January 26 on Amazon Prime Video.
Madhavan also recently paid tribute to Sridevi on Twitter.
The actor said initially he was not keen on doing a web series as he was busy with films, says Madhavan.
Directed by Pushkar-Gayatri, "Vikram Vedha" features Madhavan as an encounter specialist and Vijay Sethupathi as a gangster.
Earlier, a news portal had reported that for the last couple of weeks the producers of the film have been locked in a bitter struggle to find the right hero opposite Aishwarya.
Produced by Sashikanth, the film also stars Kathir, Shraddha Srinath and Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar.
