It has been learnt that there was a plan for a major bomb attack in Lucknow. The Kashmir connection of the terrorists that came to the fore is also being investigated by the authorities. The two arrested have been identified as Maseeruddin and Minhaj, and the UP ATS is conducting search operations on their houses.
According to Uttar Pradesh Police, the terrorists were planning to execute serial blasts in Lucknow and other densely-populated cities ahead of Independence Day. The terrorists had a crafted plan to plant bombs in crowded areas, including markets with a heavy footfall in the state.
ATS sealed the Kakori area of Lucknow on inputs of terrorists hiding inside a house. The bomb squad also reached the spot as ATS received information about a bomb planted in the area. ATS sealed the area and nobody was allowed to enter the lane. Nearby houses were also been evacuated as safety measures and further investigation is going on. ATS also seized some amount of explosives from the terrorists and a pressure cooker bomb according to the inputs.
