The price of non-subsidized LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) cylinders has been marginally increased with effect from Wednesday.
India's fuel consumption fell almost 46 per cent in April as all petroleum products, except LPG, saw massive demand erosion following the nationwide lockdown that halted economic activity and travel.
Around 4,000 free LPG cylinders were distributed among beneficiaries under the centrally-run Ujjwala scheme in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, an official said.
LPG supplies from the three major Oil Marketing Companies -- IndianOil, BPCL, and HPCL would be normal during the coming days and there was no need for panic booking as restrictions have been imposed by the State government as part of steps to curb the spread of coronavirus, an apex body said.

The oil ministry on Thursday justified the steep Rs 144.50 per cylinder hike in cooking gas LPG prices, saying the rates are based on the international market price that had increased over 26 per cent last month. It also said domestic consumers have been largely insulated from the hike by way of the large increase in subsidy.
Apprising the bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, the government said all possible steps to reduce inconvenience to the public are being taken.
LPG price today: The non-subsidised cooking gas (LPG) price increased once again on Sunday. According to a notification issued by oil firms, this time, the LPG cylinder price has been hiked by Rs 15.5 per unit.
Highlighting achievements of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), he said average per capita consumption of PMUY beneficiaries is around 4.87 cylinders in a year.
The government, he said, has taken a number of initiatives to promote usage of LPG across the country especially in rural households which otherwise depend on traditional fuels that are hazardous to health and polluting in nature.
The target was later raised to 8 crore connections by 2021 and now envisages giving all households a connection.
That price cut had come after six consecutive monthly hikes in rates since June. The two price reductions have mostly negated the Rs 14.13 per cylinder increase in rates between June and November.
A 14.2-kg subsidised LPG cylinder in Delhi will now cost Rs 507.42 as against Rs 505.34 previously, according to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers.
Diesel in Mumbai costs Rs 79.72 per litre at IOC outlets and Rs 79.79 at BPCL outlets.
The subsidy transfer in customers’ bank account has been increased to Rs.376.60 per cylinder in October as against Rs. 320.49 per cylinder in September.
A litre of diesel now costs Rs 70.21 in Delhi, where the rates are the cheapest in all metros and most state capitals due to lower sales tax or VAT.
The government subsidises 12 cylinders of 14.2-kg each per households in a year by providing the subsidy amount directly in bank accounts of users.
Rates of LPG cylinders went up by up to Rs 77 on Friday. While subsidised LPG cylinder became dearer by Rs 2.34, non-subsidised cylinder would now cost Rs 48 more.
This comes after some of the reports alleged hike in LPG price in past few months.
