Birla also called upon presiding officers to review the procedures, rules of legislative bodies to ensure that people's rights can be protected.
Lok Sabha Om Birla who is currently on a three-day Ladakh visit, as part of a 'Parliamentary Outreach Programme for Panchayati Raj Institutions', visited Pangong Lake near Line of Actual Control (LAC) on August 28. Birla also interacted with Army personnel stationed in the area.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla arrived in Leh, Ladakh on August 26. He said, "Development of the Union Territory (Ladakh) will be done as per the geographical requirements and with an aim to make the local population 'AatmaNirbhar'. Tourism will be bolstered to generate employment opportunities for locals."
Our present Parliament is a sign of sacrifice and pride. But, still we need a change and that is why there is a need for a new Parliament, said Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in an exclusive conversation with India TV.

Newly-elected Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Wednesday said he will run the House in an impartial manner while asserting that the chair should not be biased.
