Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party is a political party formed by former cabinet minister of Uttar Pradesh Shivpal Singh Yadav.
Shivpal, who is contesting Lok Sabha polls from here, said people of Firozabad invited him and based on their interest decided to contest from the seat.
When asked if the Assam government will request the Centre to make necessary changes in the existing bill to allay apprehensions of the people here, Sonowal said that is not needed if the Clause 6 of the Assam Accord is implemented properly.

Thakur is out on bail in the 2008 blast case and she is under fire for claiming that IPS officer Hemant Karkare was killed during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack as she had "cursed" him for "torturing" her.

Addressing BJP workers in Bhopal on Thursday night, Thakur had claimed that Karkare died during the attacks as she "cursed" him for torturing her.

The constituency has been a Congress bastion over the past 15 years, electing its then veteran leader Pranab Mukherjee in 2004 and 2009.
The 81-year-old activist lamented that lack of awareness among voters and focus of political parties on winning the elections by hook or crook has led to degeneration of politics, and he saw no bright future for the country if the situation continued.
The court has asked the poll panel to file the reply by the next date of hearing on April 26.
"The Congress gave 'Jatiwad aur Parivarwad' (casteism and dynasty politics) to the county and today it is the cause of embarrassment and dishonour to the party itself," BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said.

According to media reports, Thakur said former Mumbai Anti-Terrorist Squad chief Hemant Karkare, who died in action during the Mumbai terror attacks, had falsely implicated her in the Malegaon blast case and hence, died because "of his karma."
Partha Chakraborty, the officer-in-charge of the Khowai police station, said a notice will be sent to the state Congress chief in the next two to three days, asking him to appear for an interrogation.
