Locusts, which look like common grasshoppers, come in swarms during dry spells and can destroy massive swathes of vegetation within days.
The locust swarms are harmful to crops, leading to agricultural damage, which eventually causes the possibility of famine and starvation. In order to deal with the situation, farmers in Madhya Pradesh were seen beating utensils.
Locusts have reached Amravati (Maharashtra) and Mandla (Madhya Pradesh) from Rajasthan and may enter the bordering districts of Chhattisgarh "in a day or two", official said.
2020 is only serving humanity with pangs of doomsday with each one fearing for his or her life. No, we are not talking about the coronavirus but an army of insects that have made their way into India, causing troubles in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab, Vidharba in Maharashtra, Mathura in Uttar Pradesh and even new Delhi. Terrifying videos of these attacks, led by the little insects but causing greater damage, have emerged.
Major states in the country have been hit by locust attacks. The attacks said to be the worst in nearly 26 years, are likely to turn severe by next month. Rajasthan has been the most-affected region. However, due to favorable weather conditions this year, these insects have also turned towards other states.
