Syrian Crisis: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed the ousting of Syria's Bashar al-Assad as a "historic day" that followed the blows delivered by Israel against Assad's supporters Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
On Wednesday, Israel and Hezbollah agreed to US, Franc brokered 60-day ceasefire agreement under which both the parties were asked to deescalate tensions along the Blue Line.
"We welcome the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon that has been announced. We have always called for de-escalation, restraint and a return to the path of dialogue and diplomacy," said MEA.
Activity returned to the streets of Beirut on Wednesday after a ceasefire between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah group started. People were seen waving Hezbollah flags, some held up a large portrait of its late leader Hassan Nasrallah while cars blared their horns in celebration.
The strike levelled the building in central Beirut's Basta neighbourhood, the second strike in recent days in the crowded area near the city's downtown.
