Lalu Pasad Yadav was sentenced to undergo imprisonment for five years and pay a fine of Rs 60 lakh in Doranda treasury case. This was Lalu's fifth conviction in a series of fodder scam cases.
RJD MP Manoj Jha said any such incident, whether it had happened in Kashmir or Godhra or in Delhi, "we all are collectively responsible for that... You cannot blame it on someone."
Lalu Prasad Yadav was brought back to the emergency department of AIIMS Delhi around 12.30 pm. He was discharged earlier this morning.
Lalu Prasad Yadav was brought to AIIMS in Delhi around 9 pm on Tuesday after being referred by a medical board of the RIMS, Ranchi, as his health deteriorated there.
The two leaders have come together after a gap of 25 years. They had parted ways in 1997 when Lalu Prasad Yadav had founded the RJD and Sharad Yadav along with Nitish Kumar launched the JD(U).
In jail since December 2017, Prasad served most of his sentence period at the RIMS. He was taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in January last year after his health condition deteriorated.
Urging his party cadre not to lose heart, Tejashwi Yadav said, "the order passed today is not a finality. We will seek justice before the High Court of Jharkhand. If need be, we will move the Supreme Court".
A special Central Investigation Bureau (CBI) court in Ranchi on Tuesday convicted RJD supremo and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in a fodder scam case. This is the fifth case wherein Lalu has been found guilty. Lalu has already been convicted in four cases related to the multi-crore scam and is currently out on bail.
The fodder scam pertains to the fraudulent withdrawal of government money allocated to the Animal Husbandry Department of various districts in undivided Bihar.
RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has nine children. His son Tejashwi Yadav, who served as the deputy CM in 2015, is currently the Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly.
RLD will support Samajwadi Party in the Uttar Pradesh elections, Lalu Prasad Yadav said.
"Those who run such news reports are fools. We will get to know whatever happens," Lalu Yadav told media when asked if Tejashwi will be made the national president of the party.
According to sources close to the family, the function was kept low-key at the instance of Yadav, the leader of the opposition in the state assembly.
Tejashwi Yadav is the only one left among the nine children of Lalu-Rabri to get married.
The telephonic conversation comes after Congress and RJD broke off the alliance ahead of the by-polls in Kusheshwar Asthan (SC) and Tarapur constituencies in Bihar scheduled on October 30.
"Nitish Kumar has been eulogised by PM Modi and BJP. Everyone was sloganeering 'desh ka PM kaisa ho Nitish kumar jaisa ho' (A PM should be like Nitish)," Lalu Yadav said.
Lalu Prasad arrived in Bihar for the campaign of by-elections for two seats on Sunday evening. While interacting with media in New Delhi, Lalu passed derogatory comments directed at Bhakta Charan Das when asked about claims that RJD is in 'secret talks' with the BJP.
Lalu Prasad Yadav was released from jail a few months ago. He returned to Patna on Sunday after three years. He was accompanied by wife Rabri Devi and daughter Misa Bharti.
The voting for the 2 seats of Kusheshwar Sthan and Tarapur is to be held on Oct 30 and the results will be out on Nov 2.
Almost a month back, sidelined in the RJD, founded and headed by his father Lalu Prasad, elder son Tej Pratap Yadav had floated a new students' body with the ostensible aim of strengthening the parent organisation.
