This visit is in the context of 50th Victory Day celebrations in Dhaka at which Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid has invited President Kovind to represent India as a guest of honour.
The President said the honour is the testimony to the services rendered by the past and present officers of the squadron.
National Sports Awards are given every year to recognize and reward excellence in sports.
Gujarat assembly elections are expected to be held in 2022. In 2017 state election, BJP won 99 of the state's 182 Assembly seats, Congress got 77 seats.
The President drove straight to the Raj Bhavan, where he is scheduled to meet the Chief Justice and other judges of the Patna High Court in the evening.
On October 15, the President will pay tributes at the Kargil War Memorial in Drass and interact with the officers and jawans.

President Kovind also appreciated the work done by doctors, nurses and health workers during the pandemic outbreak.

“This is not Admiral Ramdas’ letter (purported letter written by armed forces veterans to President) and it has been done by some Major Chaudhary. He has written this and it was coming on WhatsApp and emails,” Air Chief Marshal NC Suri, who is mentioned as the first signatory in the purported letter, told ANI.
