West Bengal Police on Friday formed a 60-km green corridor to rush three critically injured students in a Hooghly district road accident to Kolkata for treatment, officials said.
The woman on whose statement police had detained a man for interrogation in a theft case is "missing" since Tuesday morning, the family members of Rajkumar Shaw, who died in custody at the Sinthee police station, alleged on Wednesday.
"We are expanding it. Recently, you have seen instances of crime detection by analysing the CCTV footage," he said, referring to the recent sexual assault case in Panchashayar of south Kolkata.
The patient was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead, a police officer said. Following a court order, she was admitted to the hospital in May this year, he said.
The collision took place in the middle of the bridge when two private buses bound for Kolkata's Esplanade were racing each other.
The special court, in charge of trial of criminal cases against MPs and MLAs, said it is a trial court and cannot hear an anticipatory bail application.
A day after ADG CID Rajeev Kumar failed to appear for questioning in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam, the CBI Tuesday sent some "documents" to his office, sources said.
Kumar, who served as the city police chief since May 2016, has been shifted to the post of Additional Director General of the State CID Department.
This is the third consecutive day of questioning for Kumar by the CBI and the second day for Ghosh, who was made to sit face-to-face with the Police Commissioner, on Monday.
Ghosh, who was arrested in November 2013 in connection with Saradha and Rose Valley chit fund scams and granted interim bail by Calcutta High Court in 2016, has also arrived in Shillong after the CBI summoned him.
"All that is happening, appears to be propaganda," Nageshwar Rao said reacting to the raid conducted at the premises of M/s Angela Mercantile Pvt Ltd in Kolkata's Salt Lake area.
The Supreme Court asked Rajeev Kumar to appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for investigation at Shillong in Meghalaya.

Supreme Court is all set to hear the CBI plea against the Kolkata Police chief in this matter today. On Monday, the apex court had warned of serious consequences if any proof of tampering with evidence was found against the Kolkata Police chief.
Hitting out at the opposition support to Banerjee, the BJP said an "alliance of the corrupt" is emerging after her protest against the CBI's move to question the Kolkata police chief in the multi-crore Saradha scam.
The Kolkata Police officials kept pressurising the CBI team, which was forcefully taken to the Shakespeare Sarani police station, to reveal "the investigation plan", the official claimed.
He said the CBI acted after the Supreme Court had ordered an investigation into the Saradha chit fund case and the agency was forced to take action as the officer was not cooperating and failed to reply to repeated summons.
According to a ministry official, the MHA will seek report on the role of IPS officers who allegedly obstructed the CBI probe and whether they violated the service conduct rules in Sunday's episode in Kolkata.
State minister Chandrima Bhattacharya said she has heard about the death of five persons in the incident but it was yet to be confirmed.
Although Kolkata Police refused to comment, the Facebook post got flooded with comments condemning it as many said it was in bad taste.
