Farmer Protest:The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have announced that more than 200 farmer unions would head to Delhi to press the Centre to accept their demands, including the enactment of a law to guarantee a minimum support price (MSP) for crops.
The Samyukta Kisan Morcha on Saturday formed a five-member panel for dialogue with the government on their pending demands including MSP, compensation to kin of farmers who died during the agitation against the agri laws and withdrawal of cases against the protesters.
Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) will organise protests in different states today to mark the first anniversary of the farmers' movement against three farm laws.
Farmers in western UP and Punjab have been protesting since last 1-year against 3 new farm laws passed by the Centre.
The CM also said he won't be attending a programme of the Aggarwal community in Kaithal as farmers had objected to his visit.
The Sanyukt Kisan Morcha declared a one-to-one fight against the central government. Rakesh Tikait said that now Lucknow will also be made like Delhi. The way all the roads are sealed in Delhi, similarly all the roads here will be sealed by the farmers. We will prepare for it.
Supporters of Bharatiya Janata Majdoor Trade Union (BJMTU) state president and BJP Kisan Morcha leader Baban Ghosh protested outside party office in Kolkata demanding ticket for their leader for the upcoming assembly elections in the state.
"The 'Kisan Kranti Padyatra' that started on Sept 23 had to end at Delhi's Kisan Ghat. Since Delhi police didn't allow us to enter we protested. Our aim was to finish the yatra which has been done. Now we'll go back to our villages," Naresh Tikait, President, Bharatiya Kisan Union said.
