Garcetti, 50, would replace Kenneth Juster, who served as India’s Ambassador to the US during the Trump administration.
"US-India relationship today is as broad, complex and rich in substance as any bilateral relationship in the world. It encompasses the entire spectrum of issues in international affairs," US Ambassador to India Kenneth Juster, who was the keynote speaker at the 20th annual gala of Indo-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston (IACCGH), said.
Intelligence Bureau Director Rajive Jain was also present during the half-an-hour long meeting.
Juster said the US seeks to assist India's effort to build up "its indigenous defence capabilities as well as enhance the inter-operability of our two forces" as major defence partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
Observing that ‘America First’ and ‘Make in India’ are not incompatible, he said rather investing in each other’s markets will be mutually beneficial.
Kenneth Juster replaces Indian-American Richard Verma as the top American diplomat to India.
