The Jammu Bar Association and lawyers in Kathua have been opposing the action against the accused in the horrific case, alleging that the minority Dogras were being targeted.

Facing flak over Kathua and Unnao rape cases, the BJP today said those accused should be given a stringent punishment and claimed that the police acted quickly in both the matters.
Her statement comes a day after political protests, which included Congress President Rahul Gandhi taking out a march to India Gate protesting the recent rape and murder incidents.
Investigations have revealed that the girl was held in a temple, drugged, repeatedly raped and finally murdered to scare the nomadic Muslim community out of the village.
The matter was raised in the apex court today by the Supreme Court lawyers who accused Jammu-based lawyers of trying to obstruct the filing of Charge sheet in this case.

Congress chief Rahul Gandhi organised a candlelight march at New Delhi's India Gate for justice in Kathua and Unnao rape cases on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.
"How can anyone protect the culprits of such evil? What happened to the girl at Kathua is a crime against humanity. It cannot go unpunished," Gandhi said in a tweet.
