Two government school teachers, including a woman, were shot dead by terrorists in Eidgah area of Srinagar on Thursday.
Sources said that a grenade was lobbed by the terrorists towards a CRPF naka party at KP road in Anantnag. However, it missed the target, causing no injuries or loss of life.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Rakhama village in the district following information about the presence of militants in the area, a police spokesman said.
"On 18th of September night in Uri sector, there was an attempt to infiltrate, there were six militants, 04 were sneaking in two were in the back. It's a dense forest we had a brief firefight and it seems they have been thrown back to that side. As of now, the operation has been seized,"
According to sources, security forces received input that two-three militants are present in a house in the area.

The Army on Thursday foiled an infiltration bid near the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, killing three terrorists and recovering a cache of arms and ammunition, officials said. "We noticed some suspicious movement in the Hathlanga area near the LoC. The infiltrators were challenged and three of them were killed," an Army officer said.
