Bommai said he explained the necessity of "early cabinet expansion" at his meeting with BJP president J P Nadda.
Earlier in the day, Bommai called on Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi and Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
Bommai took oath as Chief Minister of Karnataka on July 28, two days after BS Yediyurappa tendered his resignation from the top post.
Speaking to reporters on his arrival at Hubballi on his way to flood and rain-ravaged Uttara Kannada district, he said after this visit in two or three days he will seek the leadership's time to discuss the cabinet expansion and during that visit, things may be finalized.
The BJP on Tuesday named Basavaraj Bommai as new Karnataka Chief Minister. Bommai, who is considered to be a confidante of outgoing Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, was the home minister of the state. Bommai, who joined the BJP in 2008, belongs to the Sadara Lingayat community. His father SR Bommai had also served as Karnataka CM in 1980s.
According to reports, Rajappa (Ravi), aged about 30, from Bommalapura in Gundlupet taluk in Chamarajanagara district, has allegedly ended his life, shocked by Yediyurappa's exit.
Sources said that names of deputy CM Laxman Savadi, Mining Minister Murugesh Nirani and Home Minister Basavaraj S Bommai are doing the rounds as frontrunners for the CM's chair.
Hours after Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa's resignation on Monday, Shikaripura, the assembly constituency in Shivamogga district which he has represented seven times, was shut as a mark of protest by his supporters.
Soon after Yediyurappa announced his resignation, the BJP leadership went into a huddle in Delhi to find a replacement for the 78-year-old leader.
It's too early to write a political obituary of 78-yr old Lingayat strongman and the 24X7 politician, the face of the party in the state for decades.
Amid heightened speculations about Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa's exit, state minister Murugesh Nirani arrived in the national capital on Sunday apparently to meet BJP leaders, party sources said.
According to Bengaluru-based prophesier, it just might be an occasion when BSY would go back to functioning from behind the stage.
The Chief Minister said that he feels proud to have paid back to the people of Shivamogga district and his Shikaripura constituency, by ensuring its all-around development.
Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, on Friday, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi amid speculations over leadership change. Upon questioning, he dismissed the speculations and sidestepped reporters on the issue. The CM requested Modi to facilitate the early implementation of pending state projects, including the Mekedatu drinking water project.
Karnataka will implement the Mekedatu project across river Cauvery, and people of the state should have no doubts about it, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa asserted on Tuesday.
Karnataka Chief Minister, B.S. Yediyurappa on Monday said that he would write to his counterpart Pinarayi Vijayan, appealing him not to rename villages situated on bordering areas.
After releasing the stamp, the Chief Minister will inaugurate the construction of the study centre virtually through social media platform, Narayana said.
Yediyurappa will be shifted to Manipal hospital from Ramaiah Memorial hospital where he was admitted earlier today, said Karnataka Chief Minister's Office (CMO).
Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa's office-cum-residence here was shut for sanitisation on Friday after an employee's relative tested positive for coronavirus.
Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and he himself were among several politicians who received threat calls from Saudi Arabia and Dubai in the aftermath of two deaths in police firing during violent protests against the CAA and NRC in Mangaluru in December 2019, Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Wednesday
