After Mani Shankar Aiyar debacle, PM Modi has now challenged Rahul Gandhi to fire Kapil Sibal for delaying Ayodhya case.
"Meanwhile, Sibal in more trouble. Thanks to Gaurav Bhatia of BJP, and SC lawyer, I find that SC Order of 5/12 lists Sibal as Advocate for Sunni Wakf Board. Apologise to Namo, Sibal!", the BJP MP tweeted.
Sibal said instead of worrying about whom he represents in court, the prime minister should be more concerned about the problems before the country and his home state of Gujarat.
In a retort to PM Narendra Modi, senior lawyer Kapil SIbal asked him to check facts before saying something in public.
Iqbal Ansari, the son of the late Hashim Ansari who was the first litigant in the case, too said that he had no objection to Kapil Sibal's arguments.
Sunni Waqf Board member Haji Mehboob said that Kapil Sibal argued the case in the apex court as a Congress leader and not on behalf of the board.
Kapil Sibal's request in SC comes on the eve of polling in Gujarat, where the party is trying to prove Rahul's identity as a devout "janeu" wearing Hindu and a devotee of Lord Shiva.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday decided to hear the 13 appeals filed against the 2010 judgement of the Allahabad High Court in four civil suits on February 8, 2018
