Multiple police complaints have been lodged against him in Maharashtra in Pune, Akola, including one by Nationalist Congress Party Dr Jitendra Awhad in Thane, seeking to book Kalicharan Maharaj - who hails from Akola in Maharashtra - for his utterances.
Maharaj Kalicharan, accused of giving a derogatory speech against Mahatma Gandhi, was arrested from Kahjuraho today. Speaking about the same, MP minister Narottam Mishra said that protocols were not followed while arresting the saint.
Religious leader Kalicharan Maharaj was arrested from Madhya Pradesh's Khajuraho in the wee hours of Thursday. A police case was filed against Kalicharan Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Jitendra Awhad, for using an expletive against Mahatma Gandhi. According to the details, Kalicharan will now be brought to Raipur.
Kalicharan had made the remark while hailing Gandhiji's assassin Nathuram Godse at a 'dharm sansad' in Raipur in neighbouring Chhattigarh on December 26.
