The hunger strike by junior doctors in West Bengal enters its seventh day, prompting the Indian Medical Association to urge Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for immediate action amid deteriorating health conditions and ongoing demands for safety and accountability.
Around 3,000 junior doctors in Madhya Pradesh, who were on strike since a week over their various demands, called off their protest on Monday.
Two more persons were on Monday arrested in the case of assult on a junior doctor following a patient's death in Kolkata's NRS Medical College and Hospital in June this year, police said. Five persons had previously been arrested for allegedly attacking and beating up the intern doctor at the state-run hospital on the night of June 10 but were later released on bail.
