One Nation One Election bill: 21 members from Lok Sabha and 10 from Rajya Sabha will be in the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for 'One Nation One Election' bill.
The One Nation, One Election Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. The Bill will be sent to the JPC for further deliberations before it is debated in either house of the Parliament.
BJP member Jagdambika Pal, head of joint committee of Parliament, had said that the draft is ready but opposition members have demanded an extension for a more thorough discussion. They had met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday to press their demand.
The Central government introduced Waqf Amendment Bill, 2024 in the Parliament during the monsoon session. After a brief discussion, the bill was referred to the JPC of 31 members.
The Waqf (Amendment) Bill also aims at renaming the Waqf Act, 1995, as the Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development Act, 1995.
The Union Cabinet had earlier in December 2019 approved the Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019 that deals with the privacy and security of data of Indian citizens.
