Lois Marandi, a former BJP MLA, had in 2014 defeated Chief Minister Hemant Soren by a margin of 5,262 votes from Dumka. The JMM announced a total of 43 candidates for the elections to the 81-seat assembly.
A fierce contest is expected in Seraikela as former BJP member Ganesh Mahli, now a JMM candidate, faces Champai Soren, who recently left the JMM to join BJP.

Baghmara Assembly Election 2024: In the 2019 elections, Dulu Mahato, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), won the Baghmara seat by defeating Jaleshwar Mahato from the Congress. Dulu secured 78,291 votes, while Jaleshwar received 77,467 votes.
Elections to the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly will be held in two phases, on November 13 and 20, with the counting of votes scheduled for November 23.
