In a recent development, the BJP issued a show cause notice to former Union Minister Jayant Sinha on May 20. The notice accused Sinha of not participating in the campaign after Manish Jaiswal was named the candidate for the Hazaribag Lok Sabha seat, which the party claimed tarnished its image.
The party had sought an explanation from Jayant Sinha within two days, following instructions from state BJP president Babulal Marandi. Hazaribag, a high-profile urban constituency in Jharkhand, was once represented by Yashwant Sinha and later his son, Jayant Sinha.
Jayant Sinha won the seat by a margin of 4.79 lakh votes, defeating Congress's Gopal Sahu in 2019. Manish Jaiswal, who replaced Sinha, had earlier contested from the Mandu assembly seat on a JVM ticket.
