JNU violence: Speaking on Sunday's attack, injured JNUSU President Aishe Ghosh's father said with the situation volatile across the country, even he could be beaten up on the morrow. More than 30 students including teachers were injured in Sunday's violence.
JNU violence: A day after JNU violence, senior warden of the Sabarmati Hostel tendered her resignation. "We tried but could not provide security to the hostel," said R Meena, JNU's Sabarmati Hostel senior warden said after masked men entered the hostel during Sunday's violence in the JNU campus.
JNU violence: Launching a scathing attack on JNU Vice-Chancellor, JNU Student's Union in a strong-worded statement said, "At every step, the Vice-Chancellor has tried to destroy the culture and academics of the university. Mr. Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, it is time to go!"
JNU violence: At least 28 people, including JNU Students' Union president Aishe Ghosh and a faculty member, were injured as chaos reigned on the campus for nearly two hours on Sunday. Meanwhile, around 20 of those injured have been admitted to AIIMS trauma centre.
Midnight march was held at the Gateway of India in Mumbai in solidarity with the students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) who were at the receiving end of a violent mob on Sunday night. Students from various colleges were part of the group that protested against the violence. Former JNU student Umar Khalid and comedian Kunal Kamra were also present at the candlelight vigil held in India's financial capital.
In order to calm down the situation in JNU after Sunday's violence, the Delhi Police conducted a flag march inside the university, however, some students raised slogans boycotting cops saying, "Delhi police, go back."
In the aftermath of the violence inside the JNU campus on Sunday, the teachers have raised serious questions over the security mechanism of the University. The teachers also took on the administration accusing them of being hand in glove with the miscreants responsible for the violence which saw several teachers and students injured.
After the Sunday night violence in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) which saw several students and teachers being injured, protests were held in Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in support of their fellow students. A spokesperson of protesting students said that the march was held in the night to express solidarity with the JNU students, who were attacked by masked miscreants armed with rods and sticks.
The HRD ministry on Sunday sought an immediate report from JNU Registrar Pramod Kumar about the situation on the campus after masked men armed with sticks attacked students and teachers and damaged property there.
Six students have been academically suspended and declared out of bounds for allegedly heckling the vice-chancellor. A lot of students have been randomly sent proctorial enquiries, the JNUSU has claimed.
JNU Students' Union office bearers had a meeting with HRD ministry officials on the hostel fee hike issue but no resolution was reached on the second consecutive day of talks on Wednesday.
The JNUSU, which has been protesting for over a month against the proposed hike in hostel fee, said at least 17 centres have held meetings and supported the call for boycott of semester exams.
All Deans, Chairpersons and faculty members have been asked to share information with the students and apprise them of the academic rules of the University so that their academic interests can be protected.
According to a statement released by the JNU administration, students will now get 50 per cent discount in the service and utility charges to bring the monthly expenditure to Rs 1000 from Rs 2000, while a BPL category student will be further eligible for a 75 per cent discount bringing down the charges for them to Rs 500 per month.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Students' Union (JNUSU) on Monday staged a massive protest outside the varsity campus over recent fee hike and the hostel draft manual even as Vice President N. Venkaiah Naidu was addressing a convocation ceremony.
"JNU admin calls CRPF in campus. Shame. JNU VC wants to jail 8,500 students," said a message shared by JNUSU vice president Saket Moon along with pictures of CRPF personnel
Polling will be held in two phases -- 9.30 am to 1 pm and 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm. The counting will commence at 9 pm onwards and the results are likely to be declared on Sunday.
The professor emeritus is an honorary position given to noted faculty members after their retirement. The emeritus professors are free to do academic work in the departments they are attached to and may supervise research scholars as a core supervisor along with regular faculty members.
