The National Conference (NC) emerged as the single-largest party in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls held in September and October. The NC won 42 out of the 90 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with 29 seats is the second-largest party.
As Jammu and Kashmir turned another page in its troubled history, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha administered the oath of office and secrecy to Abdullah and five ministers, including Surinder Choudhary.
