Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) is an independent rating system where players' previous 30 eligible match-scores from the last 12 months are taken into account for their rating on a scale of 1-16.
Men's and women's events on the ITF World Tennis Tour are scheduled to resume in the week commencing August 17.
The singles event, both men and women, will have a draw of 64, with 56 direct entries, based on the rankings on June 7.
The ATP, WTA, Grand Slam nations (USA, Australia, England and France) and top players, led by Novak Djokovic, had raised more than USD six million, which they plan to distribute among 800 players.
Professional tennis currently remains suspended till July 31 due to coronavirus pandemic which has so far claimed more than 3 lakh lives across the world.
The guidelines include arriving at a venue already dressed and leaving immediately after the conclusion of a match, no handshake, no sharing of equipments (rackets, towels, water bottles, etc), no doubles matches.
The suspended events include the men's and women's ITF World Tennis Tour, the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors, the UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour, ITF Beach Tennis World Tour and ITF Seniors Tour.
The ITF Board made the decision after careful consideration and close discussion with the Local Organizing Committee in light of the announcement by the Hungarian government on Wednesday regarding indoor events.
Barcelona star Gerard Piqué, co-founder of the Kosmos group behind the new competition, said Sunday adjustments will be made to make the event “bigger and better.”
It is the first time since 1998 that the men's and women's ITF world champions hail from the same country.
