A large group of smugglers armed with sharp-edged weapons were attempting to smuggle goods across the border when the deployed BSF jawan warned them. The smugglers ignored the warning and tried to encircle the jawan. Seeing imminent threat, the jawan fired upon and killed one of them.
The intruder was killed near the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba sector. This incident signifies the ongoing efforts by security forces to maintain vigilance and secure the border regions, officials said.
As Pak intruder ignored multiple warnings and tried to sneak into this side from across the border, Border Security Force personnel fired upon him.
The officials said that BSF personnel manning the border outpost in Makwal retaliated befittingly to the firing from across the border. No casualty or damage was reported on the Indian side, they added.
