On July 27, various photos of Ziaullah, identified as a Pakistani SSG operative, were circulated following the infiltration attempt. Authorities have now released a video of the commando, further confirming his identity and involvement.
An infiltration attempt by suspected terrorists was thwarted by the Indian Army near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri district. A mine blast was also reported during the incident. Search operations are currently underway.
This incident follows closely on the heels of a coordinated effort by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and intelligence agencies, which successfully disrupted an infiltration attempt in the same Uri sector on Saturday, October 21.
The infiltrator was tested by the soldiers protecting the Balakote area in Mendhar sub division when he was attempting to slip into this side from across the line, the authorities said.
Four security forces personnel, including an Army officer, and three militants were killed during a failed infiltration bid by the ultras along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Machil sector on Sunday.
Three militants were killed in the ensuing gunfight, an officer said, adding search operations were on in the area.
The alert troops deployed at the border detected the movement and engaged the infiltrators with effective automatic fire.
