Baloch pointed out that the two countries have a mechanism of Indus Water Commissioners and all issues about the treaty can be discussed in it. She also said that any measures to address concerns about the treaty must be taken within the agreement's provisions.
Indus Water Treaty: Seeking changes in a six-decade-old Indus water treaty, India on Sept 18 formally notified Pakistan to amend the pact. The notification highlights fundamental changes in circumstances that require a reassessment of obligations under various Articles of the Treaty.
On August 30, a notice was issued to Pakistan under Article XII(3) of the Indus Water Treaty (IWT). New Delhi emphasised the need to reassess obligations under different articles of the treaty due to unforeseen changes in circumstances.
A Pakistani delegation arrived in Jammu on Sunday to inspect the Kishenganga and Ratle hydroelectric power projects under the Indus Water Treaty (IWT), marking the first such visit in over five years. Accompanied by neutral experts, the team is examining projects in the Chenab Valley.
India slammed parallel proceedings by an "illegal" Court of Arbitration that ruled in July that it has the 'competence' to consider matters over the two projects.
Indus Waters Treaty: Following Islamabad's "intransigence" in resolving disputes, India has also sent a notice to Pakistan seeking a review and modification of the 62-year-old IWT for the management of cross-border rivers.
Pakistan's actions have adversely impinged on the provisions of IWT and their implementation, and forced India to issue an appropriate notice for modification of IWT, they said.
The discussion was held during PIC's 118th meeting, comprising Indus Commissioners of India and Pakistan, that concluded on Tuesday.
The Indus Water Treaty (IWT) warrants the two commissioners to meet at least once a year, alternately in India and Pakistan.
This will be the annual meeting of the Permanent Indus Commission. Under the provisions of the Indus Water Treaty, both the commissioners are required to meet at least once a year alternately in India and Pakistan.
Addressing a public meeting here, Gadkari said Pakistan should stop sponsoring terrorists, supporting terror outfits and sending terrorists into India, otherwise it would have to reel under shortage of water.
The Indus system comprises Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas and Sutlej rivers. The basin is mainly shared by India and Pakistan with a small share for China and Afghanistan.
The response came hours after Union minister Nitin Gadkari said in New Delhi that India has decided to "stop" the flow of its share of water to Pakistan from rivers under the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) after the ghastly Pulwama terror attack in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed.
A Pakistani delegation will visit the Chenab river basin in Jammu and Kashmir for inspection from January 28 to 31, as mandated under the Indus Water Treaty, sources said.
It said that Qureshi met Jim at the UN on Monday and complained to him about India's Kishan Ganga and Ratle projects asserting that they were violations of the 1960 treaty
"It is a sensitive matter and we were conveyed (by the Foreign Office) not to speak on it. The Foreign Office will issue a statement in this regard," Shah said.
India's Indus Water Commissioner P K Saxena is expected to reach here today to begin the two-day discussions with his Pakistani counterpart Syed Mehr Ali Shah on Wednesday, Dawn quoted a government official as saying.
Last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the 330 MW Kishanganga hydroelectric project in Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan had protested the inauguration.
