India-China disengagement in Ladakh: The process, which started on September 8 after months of talks and 16 rounds of Corps Commander meetings, as per sources, entails both two sides moving back after their May 2020 friction.

The Ladakh border standoff between the armies of India and China erupted on May 5, 2020, following a violent clash in the Pangong lake areas. Both sides gradually enhanced their deployment by rushing in tens of thousands of soldiers as well as heavy weaponry.
The two sides reviewed the situation in eastern Ladakh at a meeting held under the framework of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China border affairs.

The Modi government has made it clear to the forces that any unilateral action on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) should not be ignored, said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
