Responding to a query on where would India stand on US vaccine distribution, Smith said India will be central and a key partner, stressing on US-India partnership in the Quad vaccine initiative.
Addressing reporters at the State Department, Jaishankar said, "We've a lot of issues to discuss. The call between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden is believed to have lasted for about 45 minutes. During the call, Biden is understood to have offered all help that India needs in this hour of crisis.
It was Blinken's first telephonic conversation with Jaishankar after he assumed the charge of the top American diplomat early this week.
