There will be a gradual increase in rainfall activity over northwest India and Bihar with fairly widespread to widespread rainfall, with isolated heavy falls, very likely over Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand till August 23, it said in a release.
It also predicted moderate rain in Mumbai with the possibility of occasional intense spells in isolated places in the next 24 hours.
The current spell of widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy to very heavy falls is very likely to continue over Northeast India and sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till August 14 and reduction thereafter, according to the IMD.

According to Meteorological (MeT) officials, the maximum temperature would settle around 36 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity at 8.30 am was recorded 66 per cent.
IMD had predicted generally cloudy skies with moderate rain or thundershowers on Sunday.

The orange alert - forecasting heavy to very heavy rain (measuring between 64.5 and 204 mm) at isolated places and valid till Saturday morning - has been issued for five districts – Vidisha, Raisen, Rajgarh, Guna and Ashok Nagar.
