The cyclone centred in Bay of Bengal is moving towards north and would make a landfall by midnight. However, the rainfall has already started in the coastal areas which would intensify in coming hours.
As Remal cyclone is expected to make landfall by midnight, the IMD chief Mrutyunjay Mohapatra has said that the rainfall has started around Sagar Island area and the rainfall is expected to exceed 25 cm. Meanwhile, the IMD has also issued rainfall alerts in Northeast and Bengal for upcoming days.
