The Union Home Ministry has issued instructions to all Collectors and Superintendents of Police to strictly enforce The Poisons Act, 1919, and the Madhya Pradesh Poisons (Possession and Sale) Rules, 2014.
The police in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh district have already arrested the key accused in hooch tragedy. Till now 80 accused have been arrested and 29 FIRs have been registered related to the incident. The lab reports has confirmed the presence of poison in the liquor.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that Rajendra Singh used to make and sell illicit liquor. Even a year ago, 250 boxes of illicit liquor were recovered from his house, after which he was sent to jail.
Seven people have been booked in connection with the raid which took place in Vasant Nagar Tanda, a Renapur police station official said.
A raid was conducted after a tip-off at Shamsabad block of Agra on Thursday night, they said, adding that three of the six accused managed to flee.
A senior police officer said over 1,400 cartons of liquor have gone missing from the Kotwali Dehat police station here and a case has been registered against Station House Officer Indreshpal Singh and clerk Rishal Singh.
