The raids were conducted from Monday morning in Kolkata's Lake Town area, Garia, Konnagar's Kanaipur in Hoogly district, and North 24-Parganas in connection with the illegal trading of coal.
The illegal rat-hole coal mine got flooded when water from nearby Lytein river gushed into it on December 13, trapping the 15 diggers.
The water level in a flooded mine in Meghalaya receded a few inches on Friday, holding out a sliver of hope for the survival of the more than dozen men who have been trapped inside the illegal coal pit since December 13 without any food and water, police said.
