After Supreme Court's directions, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on Thursday opened up the opt-out window for more students with regard to the July-scheduled examinations.
The candidates who will affected by Covid during exam will be allowed opt out and it will not be treated as an attempt. As per the verdict, the candidates can appear in exams to be held in November or can take backup exams later as per rules

The decision comes hours after the Supreme Court directed the ICAI to look into “all angles” and consider having a competent authority to certify that a candidate of CA examinations scheduled in July is unable to appear due to COVID-19 related issues.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has ruled out any postponement or cancellation of the July-scheduled examinations. Informing the Supreme Court, the institute said that "a majority of students are eager to appear" in the upcoming exams.
The Supreme Court will hear a plea seeking postponement of the upcoming July-scheduled Chartered Accountancy (CA) examinations on Monday, June 28. The matter will come up before a three-judge bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari and Aniruddha Bose post noon.
The candidates appeared in the exam can download the hall ticket through the website- icaiexam.icai.org. According to ICAI, "No physical admit cards will be sent to any candidate."
The opt-out facility is only available for canidates affected with Covid-19 or their family members. According to ICAI, "the opt out can be exercised by login into examination portal and submitting Covid-19 positive RTPCR report, Aadhar Card and self declaration form."
According to ICAI, the exam centre guidelines will be same as announced earlier in October for November/ January CA exams
ICAI President CA. Nihar N. Jambusaria has assured students that the CA exam will be held in July following the all mandatory Covid-19 guidelines, but if the pandemic situation doesnot improve, the exam may be postponed further.
The India Wide Parents' Association (IWPA) on Thursday wrote to the Union Ministry of Finance and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) to voice similar concerns put forth by CA students.
