A poor farmer from the Amethi district got a free liver transplant after the department of surgical gastroenterology at King George's Medical University (KGMU) here played good samaritan for him. Gyanendra Pratap Singh, 41, was suffering from liver cirrhosis, and the prognosis was not favourable without a transplant, the doctors had opined.
The incident took place in Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The hospital has suspended 3 persons in this matter and an inquiry has been ordered.
A critically ill boy died after he was allegedly refused an ambulance by the state-run district hospital in Shahjahanpur.
The hospital authorities, however, alleged that it is an act of sabotage by some employees, who are currently on strike, and said the hospital was in the process of filing a police complaint against an unidentified person.
