On Day 8 of the event, India took the ninth spot in the overall standings with 36 to its credit, including seven gold, 10 silver and 19 bronze medals.
While sprinter Hima Das clinched the silver medal in the Women's 400m event, in the men's category it was Muhammed Anas who also won the silver in the same event.
The 23-year-old Toor sent the iron ball to a national record distance of 20.75m to win his maiden Asian Games medal on the opening day of the athletics competition.
The 18-year-old made the country proud as she scripted history by clinching the top spot in the women's 400 m final race at the Championships which was held in France.
No woman before Das had won a gold medal in a World Championship at any level, be it youth, junior or senior.
A pre-tournament favourite, Das clocked 51.46s to finish ahead of Andrea Miklos of Romania and USA's Taylor Manson.
The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) issued an apology for allegedly mocking Hima Das' English skills on their official Twitter account.
Hima Das on Thursday clinched the top spot in the women's 400m final race in the IAAF World Under-20 Athletics Championships held in Tampere, Finland.
