A senior climate scientist attributes the recent deadly landslides in Kerala's Wayanad district to the warming of the Arabian Sea, causing extremely heavy rainfall and atmospheric instability.
The circular issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, with respect to the construction of roads in hilly areas should be followed, the Supreme Court on Tuesday said. The circular, which was issued in 2018 states that the carriageway width shall be of intermediate lane configurations, that is of 5.5 metre width, with two-lane structures.
